Alpha, from Phase I of Paws on Parade, was painted by local artist Katelyn Shull in 2018.  He resides outside of the Del Webb Library in Indian Land, SC and encourages all to enjoy their childhood and to get out and read!

Speaking on Alpha, Katelyn said:

"When I was considering my design for Alpha, I knew that this would be a community wide installation and the dogs would be installed near places that represented community. During my time in college I did an internship at an elementary school and got to witness first-hand how children react when they're engaged in an activity where they can express their creativity or engage in a fun educational activity. I decided to design something that would be attractive and fun for kids, while also acting as a tool to be used in activities. I knew that the Del Webb library had many summer programs for kids so that's how the name "Alpha" came to be. He's a playful puppy that's excited to learn and read!"
